Day three.

This blog is in danger of saying 'what a great day' 14 times... today was great, finishing off Devon and into Somerset.

The morning started badly with some crazy steep stuff, treacherous downhills and disobedient legs. It flattened off about 15 miles in, by which time the thighs had warmed up and I was able to press on at a fair pace (i wasn't lost!). Yorky and I tackled a monster climb, nor sure if it was because of 2.5 days of riding but it was incredibly tough. Two peaks that demanded standing up out of thr saddle in the lowest gear you could find. With that conquered we strove on and rejoined the group after lunch.

Some open flatter stuff near the end was a nice change from the twisty lanes. Being able to turn the big ring and cruise a long for 30 minutes ate up much of the remaining mileage.

The hostel was on top of a hill which led me, James and Yorky into a give it all you've got, 'we're not really racing, its just for fun',  race. I sailed in 'first' but unbeknown to the three of us Tom was about 5 minutes ahead and had actually overshot the hostel by about two miles!

Cake count: 4! Man, I love riding. 8 since the start.

Punctures, still zero. Maybe Bianca's boots are just too pretty to damage.

The funny foot shaped bit of the country is done. Tomorrow we turn North, the Mendip hills, Lizzie's granny, friends at Canon's House, the Severn crossing and into Wales.

Zzzzzz
