Day four.

Today's ride sees us tucked up in bed in a place that doesn't seem to exist. Google has it on the wrong side of the river, you can't find it on a Garmin GPS device, the locals don't know it and you can only find it by following obscure hand painted signs down tracks that should be tackled by a 4x4, not a carbon fibre road bike.

The route for today should have been the easiest so far, despite being the longest. But the previous efforts were evident towards the end of the day, with tired bodies keen to make it to their bed.

Fuelled on Andrew and Nige's porridge, we knocked out a pacey 15 miles from Glastonbury to Wells. The Mendip hills led us toward Bristol and marked the end of todays significant climbs. With Bristol came Grannies, colleagues and helmet cameras.

Getting out of Bristol was slow and painful and we headed towards the Severn Bridge. The bridge was expectedly blustery but had some pretty neat views in all directions. A bag of Rowntrees Randoms was immediately required on the other side. Onwards into the Forest of Dean (where Andrew gets his powers) for some beautiful scenic cycling.

Todays cake count is immense, maybe even unhealthy. 7 in total today, now 13 for the ride. The flapjack from Wells was divine.

After a fast start, today was a long ride. My energy was down, with only a couple of decent downhill sprints in me. Tomorrow is another long one, so am planning to break off from the group, 'sprint' the first 20 miles or so to Hereford and meet up for brunch. It will give Bianca a chance to stretch herself and I'll be suitably knackered tomorrow night.
